IVRE

Ivre is a Rochester-based artist whose work is as expressive as it is deeply introspective. Rooted in Black personal experiences, Ivre explores spirituality, memory, and Afro-intellectualism through using mixed-media layered compositions. Working across walls, newspapers, canvas, and other household objects. Ivre builds layered compositions that reflect his outer and inner reality.

 

His work emerges from ritual and meditations, translating feeling through gestural marks and intentional vibrant colors. Through his process, he also intends to bring communities closer to spiritual awareness while placing African American narratives at the forefront of critical conversation. His work urgently addresses social and cultural tensions within Rochester's Black community, positioning art as both reflection and intervention.
